Resident Evil: Extinction is a 2007 science fiction action horror film. It is the third installment in the series of film adaptations based on the Capcom survival horror series Resident Evil. Borrowing elements from the Resident Evil Code: Veronica video game, the film follows the amnesiac heroine Alice, along with a group of survivors from Raccoon City, as they attempt to travel across the Mojave desert wilderness to Alaska and escape a zombie apocalypse. The film was directed by Russell Mulcahy.

The film was released in the United States on September 21, 2007 and was commercially successful, grossing $147,263,679 worldwide, however, it received many negative reviews from critics such as Kyle Smith. The film was released on DVD and Blu-ray in North America on January 1, 2008.

Borrowing elements from the Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 video games, the film follows the amnesiac heroine Alice, along with a group of Umbrella Corporation commandos, as they attempt to escape a secret underground facility full of zombies. The film was directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, and was released in the United States on March 15, 2002, and in Japan on August 31, 2002. The film was commercially successful, grossing $102,441,078 worldwide, however, it received many negative reviews from critics such as Roger Ebert.

Resident Evil was followed by two sequels: Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) and Resident Evil: Extinction (2007). Anderson continued his involvement in the series, writing and producing the sequels, however, leaving directing to Alexander Witt and Russell Mulcahy.

American Psycho is a 2000 film adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' controversial novel American Psycho which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival on April 14, 2000. The film stars Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, with Jared Leto, Josh Lucas, Justin Theroux, Bill Sage, Chloë Sevigny, Reese Witherspoon, Willem Dafoe and Samantha Mathis.

The movie begins with the title card (showing knives, blood, and a chainsaw). The setting switches to a restaurant, where Patrick Bateman and his three colleagues sit down. One comes to them complaining that the restaurant bathrooms "aren't good enough to do coke (cocaine) in." They then go to a nightclub, in which "True Faith" by New Order can be heard playing. Bateman goes to a bartender and gives her one of his drink tickets, (in the novel, it explains that Bateman and his 3 other colleagues are handed "a dozen" drink tickets upon entering the club). She refuses the ticket, saying they weren't good anymore, (the reason, according to the novel, because it was past 11 PM and the tickets weren't good past then), so Bateman gives her cash instead. He grows very angry at the bartender and while she is getting the drinks, he says from behind her back: "You're a fucking ugly bitch. I wanna stab you to death and play around with your blood." Either she doesn't hear or just ignores the comment.

The scene cuts to Patrick waking up and doing his "morning routine" with an introduction of himself. He gets ready and goes to work while listening to "Walking On Sunshine".

Undead

Undead is a 2003 Australian horror film, directed by Michael and Peter Spierig and starring Felicity Mason.

After losing her family farm to debt, local beauty pageant winner Rene (Felicity Mason), decides to leave the small town of Berkeley. Strange meteorites fall to earth nearby, turning the inhabitants into zombies. Rene and some other survivors hide in the home of local gun nut and alien abductee Marion (Mungo McKay), and attempt to survive the plague of undead. Marion has a collection of guns and there is a fallout shelter in his basement, which the group of survivors take refuge in. But Marion has not had a chance to stock the shelter with food or water yet.

The group tries to get to the food but encounter the zombies again. It is here that Marion shoots one in the head and discovers it stays down. They abandon the house, which eventually leads them to Marion's garage, which contains his van. They secure the van and flee, only to find a huge barrier surrounding the entire town. Rain continues to fall at regular intervals and at first seems to turn others into zombies, but it actually cures the zombie plague. Aliens are there to help cure the town of the zombie plague caused by meteorite shower, and keep it from spreading.

The townspeople are rushed to the hospital to treat the injuries inflicted upon them by the survivors while they were zombies. Unfortunately, one of the survivors is still infected and transforms into a zombie, killing Marion and spreading the plague once again.

The film ends at Rene's farm where the survivors are staying. The final shot is of the farm with a fenced-in area nearby, containing the zombified residents of Berkeley. Rene stands guard, waiting for the return of the aliens.

House of Wax

House of Wax is a 2005 horror film, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. It is a loose remake of the 1953 movie of the same name starring Vincent Price and the 1933 film, Mystery of the Wax Museum. It was released to theaters May 6, 2005, and to DVD on October 25, 2005.

The film opens in 1974 with a pot of molten wax bubbling on a gas stove. A woman ladles some of the wax into a mold of a face as her son quietly enjoys some cereal. She offers him more as another boy—who is struggling and resisting—is forcefully carried into the kitchen by his father. Dr. Sinclare tries to put the screaming boy into his high chair but the boy kicks the table causing the face mold to go crashing to the floor and shatter into pieces. The two parents have to restrain him into the high chair as he kicks the table again, bumping his (much more behaved) brother's high chair and spilling some cereal and knocking a toy off the table. Trudy proceeds to duct tape the unruly boy's wrists to the high chair. The boy's wrists are scarred from the restraints and the tray of the high chair is stained with blood. The boy scratches Trudy on the hand. Trudy slaps the boy across the face in retaliation and the screen goes dark.

The movie cuts to the present day where Carly (Elisha Cuthbert) and her boyfriend, Wade (Jared Padalecki), have hit the road to attend a LSU/Florida college football game. They are joined by Carly's friend Paige (Paris Hilton), Paige's boyfriend Blake (Robert Ri'chard), Carly's twin brother Nick (Chad Michael Murray), and Nick's immature but funny best friend Dalton (Jon Abrahams). While camping out for the night, the group has an altercation with an unknown local. This local stopped his truck near their campsite, shining its lights on the group and refusing to respond to the friends' salutations and questions. Nick then throws a bottle at the truck, breaking one of its headlights. The driver does nothing but back away and drive off after the bottle is thrown. The identity of the driver is unknown save for a brief shot of his arm dangling out the window, making visible the scarring on his wrist. The next morning they discover that Wade's car will not start—the fan belt had snapped overnight. The group decides to split up, with Carly and Wade hitching a ride into town with another mysterious local who disposes of roadkill, and the rest continuing on their trip to the football game in Blake's truck.

During Carly and Wade's ride into the town of Ambrose, the conversation with the local who has offered to drive them turns sour and they decide to part ways with him shortly before arriving into town. After exploring the town gas station and the surrounding area, they find no one and it seems the town is deserted. They hear music coming from the town chapel at the top of the hill and follow it. Upon entering the chapel, they are embarrassed to find that they have interrupted a funeral service. A man who is kneeling at the coffin in the front of the church scowls back at them for barging in. Carly quickly apologizes and closes the door. The man then walks out, scolds them for interrupting, and then walks back inside. Soon after, the man (Bo) returns outside and apologizes for his tone. The pair explain their situation to Bo and Bo informs them that he owns the gas station and is willing to provide them with the fan belt they need to fix their car. He tells the couple that he will be back to meet them in half an hour, after he is done at the chapel.

28 Days Later

28 Days Later is a 2002 British post-apocalyptic science fiction horror film directed by Danny Boyle and starring Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris and Christopher Eccleston. Set in Great Britain, just after the turn of the 21st century, the story depicts the breakdown of society following the accidental release of a highly contagious virus known as "Rage" (which renders people mindlessly violent) and focuses upon the struggle of four survivors to cope with the ruination of the life they once knew.

A critical and commercial success, the film is widely recognized for images of a deserted London, and was shot almost entirely on digital video. The film spawned the 2007 sequel, 28 Weeks Later, as well as the graphic novel 28 Days Later: The Aftermath.

The film opens with British animal rights activists breaking into a science laboratory to free chimpanzees being used for medical research. The chimps, dosed with the "Rage virus", attack and infect the activists and a researcher.

Twenty-eight days later, a bicycle courier named Jim (Cillian Murphy) awakens from a coma in a deserted hospital. Upon leaving, he discovers that London has been completely abandoned and is rife with signs of catastrophe. After seeking refuge in a church, Jim is chased by zombie-like people, but is rescued by two survivors, Selena (Naomie Harris) and Mark (Noah Huntley), who rush him to their hideout in the London Underground. They tell Jim that while he was comatose, a virus spread uncontrollably among the populace, turning most people into mindless, blood-spewing monsters (referred to as "the Infected") and resulting in societal collapse, possibly on a global scale.

Jim takes Selena and Mark to his parents' house, but they discover that his parents have committed suicide. That night, some of the Infected break in and attack the survivors. Upon realising that Mark has been bitten, Selena brutally hacks him to death with a machete. She explains to Jim that infection is spread through blood and takes only seconds to overwhelm its victims, rendering them deadly to others. She warns that should he become infected, she will kill him too, "in a heartbeat."

The next day, journeying through the derelict city, Selena rules out the idea that she and Jim could fall in love, asserting that nothing remains but the fight to survive. Still, Selena, a chemist, continues to help the recovering coma patient, feeding and advising him. Soon, they encounter two more survivors, Frank (Brendan Gleeson) and his teenage daughter Hannah (Megan Burns), still residing in an otherwise abandoned apartment tower. Invited to spend the night, Selena and Jim privately debate whether they should stick with Frank and Hannah. Selena states that if they slow her down, she will abandon them, while Jim says he wouldn't because they're good people; Selena warns Jim that caring about others more than personal survival is a sure way to get killed.

Queen of the Damned is a 2002 film adaptation of the third novel of Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles series, The Queen of the Damned, although the film contained many plot elements from that novel's predecessor, The Vampire Lestat. It stars Aaliyah in the title role and Stuart Townsend as the vampire Lestat. The film was released six months after Aaliyah's untimely death in a plane crash and is dedicated to her memory.

The vampire Lestat is awakened from decades of slumber by the sound of a rock band, which he proceeds to take over as lead singer. Achieving international success and planning a massive live concert, Lestat is approached by Marius,and warned that the vampires of the world will not tolerate his flamboyant public profile.

Jesse Reeves, a researcher for a paranormal studies group called the Talamasca, is intrigued by Lestat's lyrics and recovers his journal from the Talamasca library. In a flashback to his origins, Lestat recalls how he awoke Akasha, the first vampire, with his music. Jesse tracks him down to a London vampire club where he confronts her, and she follows him to Los Angeles for the concert. Shortly after they leave, Akasha, awakened by Lestat's new music, arrives and torches the club.

At the concert in Death Valley, a mob of vampires attack Lestat and Marius. Akasha bursts through the stage and takes Lestat with her as her new King. Empowered by Akasha's blood, Lestat and the Queen confront the Ancient Vampires at the home of Maharet, Jesse's aunt and an ancient vampire herself.

Star Trek: Nemesis

Star Trek Nemesis (2002) is the tenth Star Trek feature film, and the fourth and last film to star the cast from The Next Generation. The film pays homage to previous Star Trek films and television series. The original music score was composed by Jerry Goldsmith.

The film opens at a Romulan Senate meeting, in which two Reman representatives attempt to persuade the council to accept Shinzon's offer of putting the two forces together. The council angrily refuses and the representatives leave, along with one of the senators (who must leave due to a meeting with another ambassador). As they start on another matter, a small red device opens and expels a green liquid that turns to dust and disappears. As Praetor Hiren begins to order the other's return, the entire council dies. He falls into dust on the floor.

As the crew of the USS Enterprise prepares to bid farewell to longtime first officer, now Captain, William T. Riker and Counselor Deanna Troi, who have just married each other in Alaska, an away team discovers the remnants of an android resembling Lieutenant Commander Data on a planet close to the Romulan Neutral Zone called Kolarus III. When the android is reassembled, it reveals its name as B-4, a predecessor to Data.

The ship is then ordered by Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway to a diplomatic mission to Remus, the slave homeworld of the Romulan Star Empire, which has undergone a military coup and is now controlled by a mysterious young Reman named Shinzon. The Romulan Praetor Shinzon proves to be a clone of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, who appears to want peace but has some nasty plans for both the Romulans and the Federation.

The Enterprise crew detects a break-in on the ship's computer systems, and Picard is captured by the Remans because Shinzon needs him as his only matching supplier of genetic material needed to repair his body, which will otherwise rapidly degenerate as a result of the process used to artificially age his clone body. The crew finds out that B-4 is a spy who helped transfer information from the Enterprise to Shinzon, and is able to replace him with Data to rescue Picard. Picard and the crew subsequently find themselves battling Shinzon's completely cloaked Warbird, the Scimitar, which is Shinzon's custom-built weapon designed for one purpose: the complete destruction of Earth.

Twilight Zone: The Movie

Twilight Zone: The Movie is a 1983 film produced by Steven Spielberg as a theatrical version of The Twilight Zone, a 1950s and 60s TV series created by Rod Serling. It starred Dan Aykroyd, Albert Brooks, Vic Morrow and John Lithgow.

The film remade three classic episodes of the original series and included one original story. John Landis directed the prologue and the first segment, Spielberg directed the second, Joe Dante the third, and George Miller directed the final segment.

The film is perhaps best known for the helicopter accident which took the lives of actor Vic Morrow and two illegally hired child actors, although in the subsequent trial no one was held criminally culpable for the accident.

Prologue

The film starts with a driver (Albert Brooks) and his passenger (Dan Aykroyd) driving through the mountains very late at night, singing along to Creedence Clearwater Revival's cover of Midnight Special on a cassette, which then breaks. Then the conversation turns to what scares them. The driver turns off the headlights and continues to drive. The passenger becomes nervous and demands he turn them back on. They play a game where they challenge each other to name TV theme songs. After several theme songs are mentioned, they begin to talk about their favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone. The passenger then asks the driver (which is now a legendary question), "Do you want to see something really scary?" The driver says yes. "Pull over," says the passenger. "Pull over?" the driver asks. The driver pulls over. The passenger asks him again, "You sure you really want to see something scary?" The driver, exasperated, says yes. The passenger says "ok" and turns away from the driver. "What are you doing?" the driver asks. The passenger turns back around, and he has become a demonic monster, which makes a very loud roar and attacks the driver, and as we hear a very audible "SNAP!" followed by silence, the familiar Twilight Zone theme music begins, as do the opening credits. The trademark opening monologue is spoken by narrator Burgess Meredith, a veteran of the original TV series.

First segment

The only original segment was the first, directed by Landis. It is loosely based on the original Twilight Zone episode "A Quality of Mercy" and slightly "Deaths-Head Revisited". An outspoken bigot finds himself traveling through time, occupying the bodies of victims of injustice: a Jewish victim of the Holocaust, a black man about to be lynched by the Ku Klux Klan, and a Vietnamese man about to be killed by U.S. soldiers. As a result of the fatal accident which occurred during its filming (see below), this segment ends quite differently than originally scripted. Originally, Morrow's character was to learn a major lesson in compassion when, during the Vietnam scenes, he rescues two children who are innocently caught in a firefight between Viet Cong and US troops, and would then be sent back to the present a changed man. However, the segment ends with Morrow's character being sent off to a Nazi concentration camp, with no redemption possible. The filming accident that took the lives of Morrow and two child actors (described below) forced this segment to be truncated.

Second segment

The second segment is directed by Spielberg and is a remake of the episode "Kick the Can". An old man (Crothers) arrives in a retirement home and restores the residents' youth through a magical game of kick the can. After a brief joyous romp as children, the rejuvenated elders look into the night intending to start life over again from a youthful age.

Third segment

The third segment, a remake of the episode "It's a Good Life", is directed by Joe Dante.

A woman (Kathleen Quinlan) gives a boy (Jeremy Licht) a ride home. When she is invited in for dinner, she finds herself the newest member of his "family" consisting of Kevin McCarthy, Patricia Barry, William Schallert and Nancy Cartwright. The family members are actually strangers who were lured to the house in the same way the woman was. They are all imprisoned by the boy's ability to turn his imagination into reality and cannot leave the house.

The ending of this version is happier than that of the TV episode. Here, the boy is convinced to end his cruelty and to develop his power for a greater good, while in the show he continues to be bad and kills the person who rises up against him.

Fourth segment

The fourth segment is directed by George Miller. It's a remake of the "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" episode. An already fearful airline passenger (John Lithgow) starts seeing a gremlin on the plane's wing, tearing apart the engine. Panicked, no one believes him. He breaks a window and grabs an officer's gun, trying to shoot the gremlin. The gremlin gets away, and the plane is forced to make an emergency landing. It is only as the man is being taken away that the plane's crew discovers unexplained damage to the engine.

Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women

Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women is a 1968 film directed by Peter Bogdanovich. The film is an adapted version of Curtis Harrington's Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet, which in turn is adapted from the Russian 1962 feature Planeta Bur by Pavel Klushantsev. No footage from Planeta Burg appears in Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women that did not appear in Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet, and much of the dubbing is the same.

A team of astronauts crash-land on Venus, and find themselves under attack by prehistoric monsters. They kill one of the monsters that turns out to be a god to the Venusian women, bringing the wrath of the alien women down on them and making them determined to destroy the "intruders".

Mark of the Vampire

Mark of the Vampire (also known as Vampires of Prague) is a 1935 horror film, starring Lionel Barrymore, Elizabeth Allan, Bela Lugosi, Lionel Atwill, and Jean Hersholt and directed by Tod Browning. It is a talkie remake of Browning's 1927 silent London After Midnight with the characters' names and some circumstances changed.

Mark of the Vampire was originally 75 minutes, but was cut back to 60 minutes by MGM. Reportedly this was due to incestuous overtones - then unacceptable by the standards of the Production Code - between Count Mora (played by Lugosi) and his daughter. However, the audio commentary on the DVD makes no mention of incest but suggests that much of what was cut was comic material, particularly surrounding the midwife.

Horrors of Spider Island

Horrors of Spider Island is a 1960 film directed by Fritz Böttger. The film is about giant spiders terrorizing plane crash survivors that consist of a talent agent and seven gorgeous girls.

The movie begins with a scene in the talent office in New York City, where girls try out for a job in a nightclub in Singapore by dancing for Gary, the talent agent. Some are chosen (including one who strips in the office), and others rejected before they start their journey to Singapore with Gary. While flying over the Pacific Ocean, they are involved in a horrific plane crash subsequent to their plane spontaneously splitting in half and falling into the sea while spewing fire. Miraculously, all but the pilot survive and get in a life raft. After five days at sea with no food and little water, they spot land. Gary literally drags the helpless females onto the beach. He discovers a waterfall, but only lets the severely dehydrated girls drink out of it for a minute before taking them into the island to search for signs of life. On the way, they discover "a hammer, with a long handle...probably for excavating some metal, most likely uranium!" as the precious mineral excavation specialist Gary puts it. Soon after they find a cabin, and inside to their horror is a man hanging from (really standing behind) a gigantic spider web. By the next scene the man disappears and Gary and the girls move into the cabin. Next there are a few scenes involving most of the girls putting some type of move on Gary, to which he responds, "The heat, I can't think straight anymore!" He then proceeds out onto the island where he is bitten by the giant spider, turning himself into some type of spider-man beast. Note: The spider has opposable thumbs. The girls hear gunshots from the cabin, but can't find Gary. The next day he kills one of the girls, and she screams (It can be heard plainly.). They begin to get scared, and two have a lengthy wrestling match in the cabin while wearing little clothing. Soon a couple men show up on the island in a small rowboat (who knows how they got to the deserted island in the middle of the Pacific with just a rowboat?) to help the professor with research. Even though the professor is dead, they are not disappointed, as they have their choice of 6 scantily clad, desperate girls. Joe cannot make up his mind, and tries his luck (and is successful) with most of them. Bob has his sights set on Ann, a girl from Minnesota. One thing leads to another, Joe and one of the girls are killed by Gary, and they finally figure out that "the only thing that will destroy him is fire!" This is basically the end of the movie, as Gary is chased into quicksand, sinks, and dies. A ship comes the next day to save the rest of the living.

Lady Frankenstein

Lady Frankenstein (Italian: La Figlia di Frankenstein) is a 1971 Italian horror film directed by Mel Welles. It stars Joseph Cotten, Rosalba Neri (under the pseudonym Sara Bey), Mickey Hargitay and Paul Müller. The script was written by cult writer Edward di Lorenzo.

he films opens with a trio of grave robbers (led by a man named Lynch) delivering a corpse to Baron Frankenstein (Cotten) and his assistant Dr. Marshall (Müller), for obvious reanimation purposes.

Baron Frankenstein's daughter Tania (Neri/Bay) arrives from school, having completed her studies in medicine, and is greeted by her father and his servant, the handsome but mildly-retarded Thomas. Tania reveals to her father that she has always understood his work with "animal transplants" to be a cover for his work reanimating corpses, and that she intends to follow in his footsteps and help him in his work.

The next day, Frankenstein, Tania, and Marshall witness the execution of a criminal who is hanged down a well, and it is implied that his body will be harvested for their experimentation. Law enforcement agent Captain Harris (Hargitay) arrives to harass Lynch at the hanging. Harris claims to be on to Lynch's grave robbing.

That evening, having harvested salient body parts, Frankenstein and Marshall successfully reanimate a corpse (The Monster) as Tania secretly watches. The Monster, however, bear-hugs Frankenstein to death almost instantly, then walks out of the castle. Tania and Marshall report the murder to Harris, but claim that it was a burglar.

Meanwhile, the narrative is interspersed with shots of the Monster roaming the countryside killing locals, including Lynch.

Tania then goads Marshall into admitting harboring romantic feelings for her. She responds to his affections, but says that while Marshall's body is old, she finds the body of Thomas young and attractive. The "solution" to this situation will be to transplant Marshall's brain into Thomas's body. To accomplish this, Tania seduces Thomas, and Marshall kills him during their lovemaking with a pillow.

Tania then transplants Marshall's brain into Thomas's body. The local villagers, however, have had enough and arrive to destroy the castle, replete with torches and pitchforks. In the chaos, the Monster arrives and has a fight against Marshall/Thomas and Tania. The Monster is defeated, but Tania's allegiance during the fight is highly suspect.

Harris arrives with Thomas's sister to see Tania and Marshall/Thomas enjoying post-fight sexual intercourse. However, during their lovemaking, Marshall/Thomas strangles Tania to death, and the film ends.

Puppet Master

Puppet Master is a horror film released in 1989 by newly-formed Full Moon Features. The film was rated R for strong graphic horror/fantasy violence, a strong sex scene with nudity, and strong language. The popular film would eventually spawn 8 sequels.

The film starts in 1939 with an old puppeteer named Andre Toulon putting the finishing touches on a living puppet called Jester. A living Japanese-looking puppet stares out of the window at Blade, another living puppet, as Blade scouts the grounds of the Bodega Bay Inn that Andre is staying at. Two Nazis get out of a car and head for Toulon's room but Blade beats them there and Andre puts Blade, Jester, An Indian Puppet, and the Japanese puppet into a chest, before hiding the chest in a wall panel. As the Nazis break down the door, Toulon shoots himself in the mouth with a pistol. The Japanese puppet is not seen for the rest of the movie nor is the Indian Puppet.

The film now cuts to fifty years later, 1989, with a psychic named Alex. Alex has a dream that there are leeches on his stomach. Seconds later, he dreams of a man that he recognizes putting a gun to a woman's head. The film cuts to Dana, another psychic, who has visions of being slashed across the throat with a knife. Carissa and Frank, two other psychics who are apparently lovers, are reading the mind of another woman when they get a call from Alex. Frank tells Alex that they also got a call from Dana, and the four psychics assess that the visions they've been having were sent from a former colleague, Neil Gallagher.

The psychics meet at the Bodega Bay Inn that Neil is staying at and meet Neil's wife, Megan, as well as the housekeeper Theresa. The psychics are skeptical that Neil took a wife but it is forgotten when Megan tells them that Neil shot himself. Theresa, Megan, Dana, Carissa, Frank, and Alex leave the body and Pinhead, another living puppet, jumps from the casket.

Later, Carissa has visions of Neil violently attacking a woman in an elevator. Dana warns Theresa to stay away from the fireplace and later, at dinner, Dana makes several remarks about Neil that causes Megan to leave the table. Alex goes after her and explains about the powers of he, Dana, Carissa, and Frank.

When night starts, Theresa goes near the fireplace and is murdered when Pinhead hits her with a poker. The psychics hear a scream and find Megan passed out nearby Neil's body that has been moved into a chair by someone. Carissa and Frank spend some intimate time together in one of the hotel rooms but two more living puppets, Tunneler and Ms. Leech, enter. Tunneler kills Carissa by drilling into her face and Ms. Leech vomits leeches onto Frank's body that suck his blood out. Meanwhile, Dana sits around with her strange, dead and preserved dog until she has her leg broken by Pinhead. Pinhead chases her and repeatedly strangles and punches her until she manages to knock him away, only to have her throat slashed by Blade, using his knife-hand.

Return of the Living Dead

The Return of the Living Dead is a zombie horror film that was released in 1985 and was followed by several sequels.

The film came about out of a dispute between John Russo and George A. Romero over how to handle sequels to their 1968 film, Night of the Living Dead. The two reached a settlement wherein Romero's sequels would be referred to as the Dead movies, and Russo's sequels would bear the suffix Living Dead.[citation needed] Thus, each man was able to do what he pleased with the series, while still having one another's work distinct and be considered canon. Following this decision, Russo wrote a horror novel, Return of the Living Dead, which he planned on adapting into a film script. Although the film rights were initially sold in 1979, they were passed along by several different studios and directors before finally being obtained by Tobe Hooper, for whom Dan O'Bannon was hired to write a script. Hooper dropped out of the project instead to focus on the production of another feature.

Following Hooper's departure from the project, Dan O'Bannon was hired to direct the film based on his original Hooper script (with Russo adapting it into an accompanying novel), also titled The Return of the Living Dead. This project alleviated confusion amongst fans of Romero's work by including a scene in which a character acknowledges the George Romero films and explains that while they are based on true events, the events of the Return series are the "true story." In addition to this separation of the storylines, the films in the Return series are markedly more comedy based than Romero's films, employing "splatstick" style morbid humor and eccentric dialogue. The film also boasted a great deal of nudity, in marked contrast to Romero's work.

Although Russo and O'Bannon were only directly involved with the first film in the series, the rest of the films, to varying degrees, stick to their outline and "rules" established in the first film.

Medical supply warehouse foreman Frank (James Karen) informs his new protege, Freddy (Thom Matthews) that Night of the Living Dead was a true story, based on events that occurred when a gas (2-4-5 Trioxin) was released into the morgue in the basement of a Louisville Kentucky hospital. As a matter of fact, the warehouse was an inadvertent recipient of a few canisters of Trioxin, all complete with dead bodies sealed inside. Due to the canisters' poor durability (and Frank slapping it) the contents are released. The dangerous gas leaks out of control, not only poisoning Frank and Freddy, but unleashing the now animated Tarman (Allan Trautman).

Frank and Freddy awaken to discover that the various bodies and body parts in the warehouse are now alive, including pinned butterflies, an entire body in the freezer and a split dog. Themselves slowly turning into zombies due to the effects of the gas, Frank and Freddy enlist the help of the warehouse owner, Burt (Clu Gulager), and his mortician friend, Ernie (Don Calfa), to cremate the cadaver and body parts. Unfortunately, the resulting smoke carries the evaporated trioxin with it, which mixes with an overhead raincloud. The rain begins to fall on the nearby cemetery, seeping into the graves, causing the dead to rise. Their first victims are some of Freddy's friends, who have been partying among the graves, while the surviving friends, including Freddy's girlfriend Tina (Beverly Randolph), are sent running for their lives.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is a 1982 science fiction film co-produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, written by Melissa Mathison and starring Henry Thomas, Robert MacNaughton, Drew Barrymore, Dee Wallace and Peter Coyote. It tells the story of Elliott (played by Thomas), a lonely boy who befriends a friendly alien, dubbed E.T., who is stranded on Earth. Elliott and his siblings help the alien return home while attempting to keep it hidden from their mother and the government.

The concept for E.T. came from an imaginary friend Spielberg created after his parents' divorce. When work on Night Skies stalled, Spielberg met screenwriter Melissa Mathison, whom he hired to pen the script for E.T.. The film was shot from September to December 1981 in California on a budget of US$10.5 million. To facilitate convincing emotional performances from the young cast, the film was shot in roughly chronological order.

E.T. was a box office hit, surpassing Star Wars to become the most financially successful film released to that point. Critics acclaimed it as a timeless story of friendship, and it is considered one of the greatest films ever made. The alien became the subject of analogies for Jesus. The film was rereleased in 1985, and in 2002 with altered special effects and additional scenes. Spielberg believes E.T. epitomizes his work.

The Truman Show

Truman Burbank began life by being the chosen one of five unwanted babies to be the star of a documentary of the first year of life of a child. The program became so popular that it expands into a continuously running reality television program.

Contained within a completely artificial town called Seahaven, itself contained within a gigantic dome, the "Omni Camera Ecosphere" Truman grows up as the only person in the town unaware that he lives in an almost solipsistic constructed reality for the entertainment of those outside. His friends, family, and wife are all actors following direction. In the case of his life-long best friend, Marlon has been on the show since he was 7 years old.

The movie picks up on Day 10,909 (nearly year 30) of Truman's life. It starts in the style of a television program, with opening credits and interviews of three main characters: Christof (the program's creator), Meryl (Truman Burbank's wife), and Marlon (Truman's best friend). Throughout the film, footage of Truman is interspersed with scenes of people in the real world watching The Truman Channel.

The movie depicts many instances of Truman's need for safety and security — his job as a life insurance agent, his fear of water and sailing, his avoidance of flying. However, throughout his life, Truman has also indicated a conflicting wish to explore the world, to travel, and to leave Seahaven. Attempts to keep him on the island (and thus unable to discover the truth of his TV-show existence) include the staged drowning death of his father, the use of an intimidating and threatening dog in his path while attempting to explore the island, and others' explicit discouragement of his wishes to be an explorer. Also, the general media consistently presents the good points of staying home.

Despite the producers' wishes, Truman makes several choices that confound their efforts to control him and his world. He falls in love with an extra named Lauren, who reveals her name to be Sylvia and then is subsequently whisked away by the TV producers. Truman is told that she and her family are moving to Fiji, thus provoking a lifelong wish in Truman to travel to Fiji to find her.

Encountering a man in the street whom he recognizes as his dead father, only to see him forcefully removed, Truman's doubts about his world grow. He has a growing suspicion that he is the observed center of the world. His friends and family give the same sorts of manufactured responses in attempts to change the subject, calm, and distract him.

With an inability to raise suspicions in anyone else, Truman begins to suspect he's the only one not aware of some kind of plot. He spots his wife crossing her fingers in a wedding photograph and notices that she constantly launches into impromptu praise of new household products, as though she is within a commercial. After an argument and a struggle, she declares, sobbing apparently to no one, "How can anyone expect me to carry on under these conditions, it's not professional!" and leaves Truman (and the show).

His friend Marlon, being coached by the TV producer through an earpiece, insists on his loyalty and honesty, claiming "you're the closest thing I have to a brother" and deceitfully, "the last thing I would ever do is lie to you." He then brings forward Truman's father in a moving reintroduction scene.

In an interview about his creation, it is revealed that Christof does not see harm in deceiving Truman, arguing that the latter would rather not know the truth and prefers his protected existence.

Upon seeing his father again, Truman ostensibly resumes his light-humored routine, only to later surreptitiously escape from the island via sailboat. Unable to find Truman, Christof orders the transmission cut, creating a large media stir in the real world. After thorough searching on land, Christoff realizes the sea is unwatched, and quickly finds Truman with a camera on his boat, and resumes transmission of the show.

In an attempt to deter Truman, Christof orders an artificial storm, though clearing the weather just before Truman is about to drown. Truman resumes sailing until hitting a wall painted like the sky, the physical edge of the show's enormous set. Truman follows the wall until he discovers a door labeled exit. As he opens the door, Christof introduces himself through a loudspeaker and tells the truth. He entreats Truman to stay, but Truman casually bows out and steps through the door.

12 Monkeys

Twelve Monkeys is a 1995 science fiction film written by David and Janet Peoples and directed by Terry Gilliam. The movie deals with time travel, madness and memory and is inspired by the French short film La Jetée. The film stars Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe, and Brad Pitt.

James Cole (Willis) is a convicted criminal in a grim post-apocalyptic future. The Earth's surface has been contaminated by a virus so deadly that it killed five billion people in 1996–1997, forcing the surviving population to live underground. To earn a pardon, Cole allows scientists to send him on dangerous missions to the past to collect information on "The Army of the 12 Monkeys" – an organization they believe to be responsible for spreading the virus. If possible, he is to obtain a sample of the original virus so a cure can be made, enabling the human race to return to the surface. Throughout the film, Cole is troubled with recurring dreams involving a chase and a shooting in an airport.

The scientists' time machine is imprecise. On Cole's first trip, he arrives in 1990, not 1996 as planned. He is arrested and hospitalized in a mental institution on the diagnosis of Dr. Kathryn Railly (Stowe), where he encounters Jeffrey Goines (Pitt), a fellow mental patient with animal rights and anti-consumerist leanings. Cole tries unsuccessfully to leave a voice mail on a number monitored by the scientists in the future. After a failed escape attempt, Cole is placed in restraints but is then returned to the future, disappearing from his locked room and baffling his doctors.

Metropolis

Metropolis is a silent science fiction film created by the famed Austrian-German director Fritz Lang. It was produced in Germany in the Babelsberg Studios and released in 1927 during the height of the Weimar Republic. In addition, it was the most expensive silent film of the time, costing approximately 7 million Reichsmark (equivalent to around $200 million in 2005) to make.

The screenplay was written in 1924 by Lang and his wife, Thea von Harbou, and novelized by von Harbou in 1926. It is set in a futuristic urban dystopia and examines a common science fiction theme of the day: the social crisis between labor and management in capitalism.

The film is set in the year 2000, in the extraordinary Gothic skyscrapers of a corporate city-state, the Metropolis of the title. Society has been divided into two rigid groups: one of planners or thinkers, who live high above the earth in luxury, and another of workers who live underground toiling to sustain the lives of the privileged. The city is run by Johann 'Joh' Fredersen (Alfred Abel).

The beautiful and evangelical figure Maria (Brigitte Helm) takes up the cause of the workers. She advises the desperate workers not to start a revolution, and instead wait for the arrival of "The Mediator", who, she says, will unite the two halves of society. The son of Fredersen, Freder (Gustav Fröhlich), becomes infatuated with Maria, and follows her down into the working underworld. In the underworld, he experiences firsthand the toiling lifestyle of the workers, and observes the casual attitude of their employers (he is disgusted after seeing an explosion at the "M-Machine", when the employers bring in new workers to keep the machine running before taking care of the men wounded or killed in the accident). Shocked at the workers' living conditions, he joins her cause. Meanwhile his father Fredersen learns of the existence of the robotic gynoid built by the scientist Rotwang (Rudolf Klein-Rogge) and orders Rotwang to give the robot Maria's appearance. (Rotwang had wanted to give the robot the appearance of Fredersen's dead wife, Hel; both men had been in love with her, but in the end she had married Fredersen). By doing so he wants to spread disorder among the workers that would give him the pretext to carry out a retaliatory strike against them.

The real Maria is imprisoned in Rotwang's house in Metropolis, while the robot Maria becomes an exotic dancer in the city's Yoshiwara nightclub, fomenting discord among the rich young men of Metropolis. The workers are encouraged by the robot Maria into a full-scale rebellion, and destroy the "Heart Machine", the power station of the city. However, the destruction of the machine leads to the city's reservoirs overfilling, which floods the workers' underground city and seemingly drowns their children, who were left behind in the riot. (The children are in fact saved in a heroic rescue by Freder and Maria, without the workers' knowledge.) When the workers realize this, they attack out into the gridlocked and confused upper city, foreshadowing the "destruction of the enemy in the citadel" ending still seen in films. The crowd breaks into the city's entertainment district and captures the robot Maria, whom they believe is responsible for drowning their children. They burn the robot at the stake, and when Freder sees this, he believes that it is the real Maria and despairs. However, Freder and the workers then realize that "Maria" is in fact a robot, and see the real Maria being chased by Rotwang along the battlements of the city's cathedral. Freder chases after Rotwang, resulting in a climactic scene in which Joh Fredersen watches in terror as his son struggles with Rotwang on the cathedral's roof. Rotwang falls to his death, and Maria and Freder return to the street, where Freder unites Joh and Grot, the workers' leader, fulfilling his role as the "Mediator".

The Grudge 2

The Grudge 2 is the 2006 sequel to the 2004 American horror film remake The Grudge. The Grudge 2 is the second film in Sony's The Grudge series and is directed by Takashi Shimizu (director of the original series) and written by Stephen Susco. The film is produced by Sam Raimi and stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amber Tamblyn, Arielle Kebbel, Jenna Dewan, and Edison Chen. As stated by Takashi Shimizu the film is not a remake of Ju-on: The Grudge 2 and does follow a different storyline.

The film is rated PG-13 by the MPAA, M by the OFLC and 15 by the BBFC for its content of mature thematic material, disturbing images/terror/violence, and some sensuality. The film was released in North America on October 13 after being pushed forward a week from the original October 20 release date. The film was released in United Kingdom on October 20 and in Australia on October 26, 2006.

The Grudge

The Grudge is the 2004 American remake of the Japanese film Ju-on: The Grudge. The film is the first installment in the American horror film series The Grudge. The film was released in North America on October 22, 2004 and is directed by Takashi Shimizu (director of the original series) while Stephen Susco scripted the remake. In the same tradition as the original series, the plot of the film is told through a non-linear sequence of events and includes several intersecting subplots. The film is rated PG-13 by the MPAA and 15 by the BBFC for its content of mature thematic material, disturbing images/terror/violence, and some sensuality. The film has earned a cult status among many users on various Internet forums including Rotten Tomatoes and Internet Movie Database.[6] The film has also spawned several sequels including The Grudge 2 (which was released on October 13, 2006) and The Grudge 3 (which is currently in pre-production for a 2008 release).

The Grudge describes a curse that is born when someone dies in the grip of a powerful rage or extreme sorrow. Those who encounter this murderous supernatural force die and the curse is reborn repeatedly, passed from victim to victim in an endless, growing chain of horror. The following events are explained in their actual order (which differs from the order shown on film).

Underworld

Underworld is a 2003 action-horror film about the secret history of vampire and werewolves, where the latter are referred to as "Lycan" as an abbreviated form of lycanthrope. It is the first film in the Underworld series. The main plot revolves around Selene (Kate Beckinsale), a vampire "Death Dealer", or one who hunts Lycans, a job she is extremely good at due to the fact that she is fueled with hatred for the whole species, whom she believes to have killed her entire family. She finds herself attracted to a medical intern, Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman), after saving him from the Lycan master Lucian (who bit Michael and infected him with the Lycan virus), and must decide whether to do her "duty" and kill him or to risk her life to save him. This movie has many parallels as a dark Romeo and Juliet tale.

The movie opens with Selene, a Death Dealer, and Rigel trailing a pair of Lycans, unaware that they are in turn stalking a human - Michael Corvin. Trailing them into a subway station, the two Death Dealers are spotted and a shoot-out ensues, with Rigel being killed by the Lycans. A woman is shot in the crossfire, and Michael tries to assist her. The two sides of monsters continue their fight, and the Lycans eventually retreat.

Arriving at Ördögház, Selene confronts Kahn, the chief Death Dealer, with her findings during the battle; but the regent Kraven blows off the significance of her claims. Selene decides to further investigate the ordeal alone. Meanwhile, in the Lycan lair, a scientist named Singe unsuccessfully seeks a match for the Corvinus Strain. They decide to try again in pursuit of Michael.

Selene finds Michael and demands answers. They are attacked by Lycan hordes, including Lucian, a Lycan who is thought to be dead. Michael is bitten by Lucian, who gathers a blood sample. Selene, unaware of him being bitten, aids Michael in escaping the building. Selene takes Michael to the vampire lair for safety, but he soon escapes when the other vampires figure out he's become a Lycan. Selene grows suspicious of Kraven and collects evidence to take to the library. She learns that Lucian is still alive and that he and Kraven are secret allies with each other. Selene decides to awaken Viktor, an elder.

Michael tries to seek aid from his friend at the hospital, but his tale of being bitten by a man leads to treachery on the part of his friend. He escapes again, attempting to meet with Selene and begging for answers. Selene drives out to meet Michael, where she sees that he had indeed been bitten. She explains the long history between Vampire and Lycan. Kraven runs into Viktor, who demands to know what has happened, and learns that he has been awakened a century early.

Selene takes Michael to a safehouse. Michael mentions his nightmares and Selene explains they are actually Lucian's memories. Selene explains that her hatred of Lycans stems from her belief that they killed her family. Michael is captured while another Vampire-Lycan firefight breaks out. Selene ends up the only vampire survivor and Singe the only Lycan survivor.

Kraven tries to explain what has happened to Viktor right as Selene arrives with Singe. The captive Lycan reveals that the Lycans had been experimenting to combine the bloodlines of the two species via the Corvinus Strain, something they can only do with a descendant of Alexander Corvinus himself, which is why they targeted Michael. They wished to make a Hybrid so they could end the war. He also reveals Kraven's treachery, forcing Kraven to flee. Kahn arrives at the crypt and informs Viktor that the Vampire counsel, including Amelia the 'active' elder, was attacked by the Lycans and there were no survivors. Viktor kills Singe and turns to Selene telling her all she has to do is kill Michael and she will be exonerated.

Michael wakes up strapped to a slab in Singe's lab. He is greeted by Lucian, who then extracts blood from Michael and injects it into himself. While Michael watches him, he recognizes the pendant Lucian wears, and suddenly, his nightmares make sense: he recalls the events of how Lucian's wife, Viktor's daughter Sonja, was murdered by Viktor out of fear that the infant in her womb would be a hybrid that would overthrow him. Viktor, it is revealed, started the war. Lucian explains the rest of the story to Michael.

Some time ago, an unimaginable disaster destroyed much of human civilization: the recently dead inexplicably began returning to life and taking the lives of their living siblings. These "zombies" multiplied rapidly by adding to their ranks with every new victim. Many years later, the still-living in the vicinity have fled to the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where a feudal-like government has taken over. Bordered on three sides by rivers and on the other by an electric barricade, the city has become a sanctuary against the undead threat. Fiddler's Green, the center of this fortress city, is where the rich and powerful live in luxury while the rest of the local survivors live in poverty around them. Paul Kaufman (Dennis Hopper), a tyrannical businessman, rules with an iron fist and overwhelming firepower.

In order to ensure his dominance and upscale lifestyle, Kaufman financed the construction of Dead Reckoning, a heavily armored vehicle that can venture out into the zombie-populated territory with relative ease. Armed with heavy remote-controlled external machine guns, missile launchers, video cameras to spot zombies on the sides, and a fireworks' launcher to distract the zombies: zombies, like humans, are fascinated by fireworks and will ignore the humans to watch them. Riley Denbo (Simon Baker), the designer of Dead Reckoning and leader of the expeditions to retrieve salvageable goods, has decided to retire and leave the safety of the city. Unlike Kaufman, Riley is respected by the citizens of the fortress city for his work to protect them from a dangerous world. However, after a series of incidents, Riley winds up in jail with his best friend Charlie Houk (Robert Joy), a slow witted member of the Dead Reckoning team who happens to be a crack shot with his old M1 Carbine, and Slack (Asia Argento), a female soldier who has been pressed into prostitution and who was almost killed in a recent cage match with a pair of zombies.

Meanwhile, Cholo DeMora (John Leguizamo), the cocky second in command of the Dead Reckoning team, having been denied the opportunity to buy an apartment in Fiddler's Green by Kaufman, has gone renegade. Having his dreams to live in Fiddler's Green shattered by Kaufman — for whom he has been secretly employed (one of his tasks being the disposal of the corpses of Kaufman's murdered enemies) — Cholo is out to even the score. He threatens to destroy Fiddler's Green with Dead Reckoning — which he has hijacked with some of its crew — unless his demands are met. Kaufman turns to Riley to stop Cholo, which is how Riley, Slack, and Charlie are released from prison. A trio of soldiers, Pilsbury, Motown, and Manolete, are assigned to assist them, but their mission is to recapture Dead Reckoning, whether Riley and his allies want them to or not. Manolete is soon bitten, and Motown later tries to kill Cholo only to be killed herself by a zombie, while Pilsbury changes sides and starts helping Charlie and Slack. As Riley finally catches Cholo, he convinces him to allow him to take Dead Reckoning and leave the city to head north, leaving Cholo and his "partner in crime," Fox, with a truck to go west. Shortly after this Cholo is bitten by a zombie. Rather than be shot immediately and never become a zombie, Cholo chooses to "see how the other half lives".

The Brothers are Vampires; not the vampires of European myth, but living breathing creatures - perhaps the next evolutionary step. They live long - 200 years or more, remaining youthful until near death, when they rapidly decay in mind and body.

The title refers to blood diamonds, which are diamonds mined in African war zones and sold to finance the conflicts. On January 23, 2007, it was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Actor (DiCaprio) and Best Supporting Actor (Hounsou).

Set during the Sierra Leone Civil War in 1999, the film shows a country torn apart by the struggle between government soldiers and rebel forces.[1] The film portrays many of the atrocities of that war, including the rebels' amputation of people's hands to stop them from voting in upcoming elections.

The film begins with the capture of Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou), a Mende fisherman, by the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) rebels. Separated from his family, Solomon is enslaved to work in the diamond fields under the command of Captain Poison (David Harewood). The RUF use the diamonds to fund their war effort, often trading them directly for arms. While working in the RUF diamond fields as a forced laborer, Solomon finds a large diamond of rare pink colouring. Moments before government troops launch an attack, Captain Poison sees Solomon hiding the diamond. Captain Poison is injured in the attack before he can get the stone, and both he and Solomon are taken to prison in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone.

Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), a white ex-mercenary from Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), trades arms for diamonds with a RUF commander. He is imprisoned after being caught smuggling the diamonds into neighboring Liberia, and the diamonds are confiscated. He had been transporting the diamonds to a South African mercenary named Colonel Coetzee (Arnold Vosloo), who is in turn employed by South African diamond company executive Van De Kaap (Marius Weyers) and his deputy Simmons (Michael Sheen). Coetzee is Archer's former commander in 32 Battalion, the most decorated unit of the South African Border War, made up of Angolan and Rhodesian soldiers and white South African officers. Archer is desperate for a way to repay Colonel Coetzee for the diamonds taken from him when he was arrested and thrown in jail, in the same prison as the fisherman. While in prison, he overhears Captain Poison ranting to Solomon about the discovery of the large diamond and decides to hunt down the stone. He arranges for Solomon's release from prison and offers to help him find his family in exchange for the diamond.

The film was the third video game movie adaptation by Uwe Boll who previously made the movies based on House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark.

Based on the video game of the same name, the film centers on the character of Rayne (Kristanna Loken), an unholy breed of human and vampire called a Dhampir. Dhampir are unaffected by crucifixes and do not thirst for human blood. She is the daughter of the Vampire King Kagan (Ben Kingsley) who has gathered an army of thralls, both vampire and human, in order to annihilate the human race. She was conceived when Kagan raped her mother, and she later witnessed him killing her.

Sebastian (Matthew Davis), Vladimir (Michael Madsen) and Katarin (Michelle Rodriguez) are three members of the Brimstone Society, which fights vampires. When they hear of the Dhampir, Vladimir plans to recruit her in order to kill Kagan. A great portion of the story concerns the three body-parts of an ancient vampire that can make a vampire free of the basic weaknesses: holy water (the eye), crucifixes (the rib) and the sun (the heart). As Kagan wants all these parts it becomes the heroes' mission to stop him.

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride is a 2005 Academy Award-nominated stop-motion-animation film based loosely on a 19th century Russian-Jewish folktale version of an older Jewish story and set in a fictional Victorian era England. It was directed by Tim Burton and Mike Johnson, and filmed at 3 Mills Studios in London. Johnny Depp led an all-star cast as the voice of Victor and Helena Bonham Carter (for whom the project was specially created) as the voice of the Corpse Bride. This is the first animated film in which Johnny Depp has been a voice actor. The film was nominated in the 78th Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature. It lost to another stop-motion animated feature, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit which also starred Helena Bonham Carter.

The movie exhibits Burton's trademark style and recurring themes (the complex interaction between light and darkness, and of being caught between two irreconcilable worlds). The movie can be particularly compared to The Nightmare Before Christmas , Burton's previous stop-motion feature project (directed by Henry Selick and based on a Tim Burton poem, which Corpse Bride director Mike Johnson worked on as an animator) and Beetlejuice, especially in the scenes depicting the underworld and its deceased denizens. The studio intentionally emphasized the links, as some commercials for Corpse Bride were accompanied by songs from The Nightmare Before Christmas (specifically, "What's This"); also, in an issue of Disney Adventures, Emily (the title character) was compared to The Nightmare Before Christmas's Sally, despite the stark contrasts in personality between the outspoken, free-spirited Emily and the quiet, timid Sally.

The story is set in a cold, gloomy Victorian era town, a parody of aristocratic England. A nervous young man by the name of Victor Van Dort (Johnny Depp), son of rich fishmongers Nell and William Van Dort (Tracey Ullman and Paul Whitehouse), is due to be wed to beautiful young Victoria Everglot (Emily Watson), daughter of bankrupt hereditary aristocrats Maudeline and Finis Everglot (Joanna Lumley and Albert Finney). Victor isn't too keen on the idea of an arranged marriage until he meets the charming Victoria face-to-face. The two hit it off from the start despite their earlier misgivings, falling in love with each other almost instantly. But after botching the wedding rehearsal (and accidentally setting Victoria's mother's skirt on fire in the process), Victor is banished by Pastor Galswells (Christopher Lee) to learn his wedding vows.

Victor wanders through the forest practicing his vows, consistently blundering them. Finally he gains confidence and successfully recites them, and upon spying a tree root that resembles a human hand, places his bride's wedding ring on it. No sooner has he done so, the hand (for it really is a human hand) grabs him by the arm and Emily, the Corpse Bride, (Helena Bonham Carter) emerges from beneath the earth dressed in a moldy, flowing wedding dress and declares Victor her husband. Victor then blacks out.

Surprised, Victor awakes in a pub with the dead. At first, he is terrified when he is told the news of his unexpected marriage. He is told how the corpse bride was mysteriously killed on her wedding day and has been waiting for her groom to come and claim her ever since through a jazz tune sung by a skeleton with one eye and his group of other likewise musical bones. Soon, however, he shakes himself and runs into the streets.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 musical comedy film that parodies horror films, based on the British musical stage production The Rocky Horror Show, with the screenplay written by Richard O'Brien and Jim Sharman. The film features Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick.

The film is considered a cult classic and a midnight movie — although it is widely known by mainstream audiences. It has a large national and international following. While it can be said that the popularity is high, critics point to the lack of plot and cartoonish style as well as the overly sexual nature of the film as some of its major drawbacks. Regardless of these facts the movie has gone on to become one of the most well known and financially successful midnight movies of all time. It is the longest running theatrical release in film history. More than 30 years later it is still in limited release in theaters around the world. In December 2005, Librarian of Congress James H. Billington added The Rocky Horror Picture Show to the National Film Registry, a list that contains only 450 films.

The story, narrated by a criminologist (Charles Gray), is that of a young newly engaged couple, Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon), who find themselves lost on a cold and rainy late November evening. Seeking a phone to call for help, the two find shelter at a nearby castle inhabited by strange and outlandish characters that are holding an Annual Transylvanian Convention. They watch, still wet from the rain as the Transylvanians dance The Time Warp, the film's signature song.

They are soon swept into the world of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a self proclaimed "Sweet Transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania" and his servants, Riff Raff (Richard O'Brien) and his sister Magenta (Patricia Quinn), as well as groupie Columbia (Nell Campbell) and an ensemble of convention attendees.

It is Furter's intention to unveil the "secret to life itself". In a scene inspired by Frankenstein movies, "Rocky Horror" (Peter Hinwood) is brought to life. After the disoriented Rocky is chased down by Frank, the party is interrupted by Eddie (Meat Loaf), an ex-delivery boy, who rides out of a deep freeze on a motorcycle. The scene ends with his bloody death at the hands of Furter.

Brad and Janet are shown to separate rooms where their host has his way with both. Janet, overcome with emotion, wanders off looking for Brad. She discovers a cowering Rocky, hiding in his birth tank from Riff Raff, who torments the creature much as Igor tormented Frankenstein's monster.

Lost in Space

Lost in Space is a 1998 feature-length motion picture, produced by New Line Cinema, and is an adaptation of the 1965-1968 CBS television series Lost In Space. The main characters were played by William Hurt, Mimi Rogers, Heather Graham, Matt LeBlanc, Gary Oldman, Jack Johnson, and Lacey Chabert.

The film opened at #1; the first new film of the year to do so due to the success of Titanic. Audience reaction was mixed and box office results were insufficient to justify a planned sequel.

Some of the actors from the TV show appeared in the film. June Lockhart appeared as Will's teacher in a hologram. Mark Goddard appeared as the general who picks Major West for the mission. Angela Cartwright and Marta Kristen appeared as news reporters. Dick Tufeld performed the voice of The Robot. He was also the announcer and the original voice of The Robot in the television series. However, Jonathan Harris, who played Dr. Smith in the series, refused to make a cameo appearance in the motion picture version (he had been offered the role of the Global Sedition businessman who deals with Dr. Smith).

It was released on July 27, 2001. Charlton Heston, star of the 1968 version, also makes a cameo appearance, as does Linda Harrison.
In the year 2029, onboard the Oberon space station we are introduced to a young astronaut, Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg), who works closely with primates who are trained for dangerous space missions. His favorite simian co-worker is a chimpanzee named Pericles.

Suddenly an alert sounds - an enormous electromagnetic storm is approaching the station. The Oberon's commander decides to send out a small space pod piloted by Pericles to probe the storm. Pericles' pod heads into the storm and disappears. Against his orders, Leo steals a second pod and goes in pursuit of Pericles. Entering the storm, Leo loses contact with the Oberon and his pod tumbles through a vortex, finally arriving in orbit over a strange world in the year 3002. Leo takes his vehicle planetside and crashes it into a dense jungle.

Emerging from his damaged vessel, Leo hears the sound of people running. Suddenly, a group of primitive humans emerge and, after staring strangely at his attire, continue to flee in terror. They are being pursued by large humanoid apes on horseback, who speak in human tongue. While running, Leo meets General Thade (Tim Roth), a chimp-like humanoid who is first in command of the ape military forces. He also meets Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan), an enormous gorilla who appears to be Thade's right-hand-man and captain of the army. The humans are eventually rounded up and hauled back to the Ape City where they are to be sold off as slaves.

Vacancy

Vacancy is a 2007 horror/thriller which stars Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale was distributed by Screen Gems and was released to the public on April 20, 2007. Production was scheduled to commence in August 2006. Nimród Antal had signed on to direct the movie.

Early on, Sarah Jessica Parker was going to be in the film. A September 2006 article in The Hollywood Reporter announced that Kate Beckinsale had signed on to replace Parker.

David (Luke Wilson) and Amy Fox's (Kate Beckinsale) car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and the bickering couple decide to spend the night in a motel with creepy manager Mason (Frank Whaley). They discover that the low-budget slasher movies they're watching on TV were all filmed in the exact room they're staying in and are actually snuff films that they are about to become a part of. They crawl through an underground tunnel to escape from their room, and that brings them to the hotel lobby. David and Amy struggle to get out alive while cameras film their every move. They are able to make a 911 call which summons a police officer to the premises, but the cop ends up being killed by one of the thugs, so again David and Amy are on their own. David is eventually stabbed by one of the thugs. In the end, Amy kills the thugs with her car and after a struggle, shoots and kills the manager. She calls 911 and as the film ends David begins to revive.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence: A.I. is a 2001 science fiction film co-produced, written, and directed by Steven Spielberg. It was the last project on which filmmaker Stanley Kubrick worked — he died before the film started shooting, and Spielberg dedicated the film to him.

The film won five Saturn Awards, including Best Science Fiction Film. It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Effects, Visual Effects and Best Music, Original Score.

A.I. was initially inspired by a very short story by UK science-fiction writer Brian Aldiss, Super-Toys Last All Summer Long. Kubrick and Aldiss spent years (on and off) attempting to develop this piece into a full length film. Aldiss claims he never felt the story could be successfully expanded into something bigger, as its focus was too intimate to begin with, and this seems to have been the origin of his problems with Spielberg, who was equally certain it could be fleshed out. Despite these problems, Aldiss has claimed he and Kubrick had come up with three or four "non-submersible units" (Kubrick-speak for the interesting sequences a film should contain six of) by taking ideas from other stories of his. Kubrick seems to have made some highly unreasonable demands on Aldiss, and there was also a dispute over money. Coupled with Kubrick's insistence on taking elements from "Pinocchio" this ended their relationship.

Irish science fiction novelist Bob Shaw was then brought on board for a few months, but he found Kubrick too demanding. Kubrick turned to another UK science fiction notable, Ian Watson, who did seem to work well with him, and the two produced the long treatment (credited to Watson) that Spielberg used to write his screenplay. Both British feminist writer, Sara Maitland, and Arthur C. Clarke added ideas to A.I. A science fiction painter known as Fangorn (real name Chris Baker) was commissioned to produce hundreds of pictures from ideas and descriptions given to him by Kubrick which were used heavily by Spielberg, too. Spielberg then bought the rights to Aldiss' two brief sequels to "Supertoys" and ideas from them appear in the movie.

The film takes place 400 years into a post-apocalyptic future, after a virus has wiped out ninety-nine percent of the Earth's 2011 population. The survivors inhabit Bregna, a walled city-state, which is ruled by a congress of scientists. Æon Flux is an assassin-member of the 'Monicans', an underground rebel organization led by The Handler. When Æon is sent on a mission to kill the government's leader, Trevor Goodchild (Marton Csokas), she uncovers that she is the unwitting part of a secret coup. This discovery brings into question the origin and destiny of everyone in Bregna; and in particular, Æon's personal connection to the man she has been sent to assassinate.

The film begins with a very bloody corpse of man in a blue-lit room that has tin-foil everywhere. Agnes White (Ashley Judd) is smoking a joint outside of her motel room when her phone rings again. She answers it, but no one says anything. Flustered, she goes about her business but her phone keeps on ringing. Every time she picks it up, no one says anything. She thinks that it’s her ex-husband Jerry Goss, since he just got out of prison and she has a restraining order against him. However, she can’t confirm this because the caller never says anything.

Later on, she goes outside and finds a flier for a body shop on her windshield, also noticing that none of the other cars have the flier. She throws it away and goes to the grocery store to buy alcohol, where she is startled by a man reaching for a bottle. After that, Agnes goes to work, where she’s a bartender at a lesbian bar. Her best friend R.C. (Lynn Collins) startles her, and they talk. R.C. wants to introduce Agnes to a man standing at the jukebox.

He is then brought to a nearby hole where a small stone head is found, resembling some sort of creature. After talking to one of his supervisors, he then travels to a spot where a strange statue stands, specifically Pazuzu, with a head similar to the one he found earlier. He sees an ominous man up a bit away, and two dogs fight loudly nearby, setting the tone for the rest of the film.

A visiting actress, Chris McNeill (Ellen Burstyn) in Washington, D.C., notices dramatic and dangerous changes in the behavior and physical make-up of her 12-year-old daughter Regan McNeill (Linda Blair), first believing her rapid change physically and mentally are due to trauma from her recent break-up with Regan's biological father. During this time, several supernatural occurrences plague the household of the McNeill's along with the sudden change in her daughter, including violently shaking beds, strange noises and unexplained movement.

Plan 9 from Outer Space is a 1958 science fiction/horror film written, produced and directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr., and released in 1959. The film stars Gregory Walcott, Mona McKinnon, Tor Johnson and Maila "Vampira" Nurmi. The film also claims to posthumously star Bela Lugosi through use of archive footage, although Lugosi's character is primarily portrayed by chiropractor Tom Mason.

The plot of the film is focused on a race of extraterrestrial beings who are seeking to stop humans from creating a doomsday weapon that would destroy the universe. In the course of doing so, the aliens implement "Plan 9", a scheme to resurrect earth's dead as zombies to get the planet's attention, causing chaos.

By merit of its writing, unconvincing special effects, and multiple production errors visible in the final version of the film, Plan 9 from Outer Space is sometimes regarded as a leading candidate for the title of "worst movie ever made." On the recommendation of her professor, a young female student travels to a small Massachusetts town to do some research into witchcraft. She finds the town occupied by the reincarnation of an infamous witch burned at the stake in the 17th century.

Horor hotel has atmosphere and I rate that over effects any day. Most of the story takes place in a strange village, with even stranger locals. To make things stranger still it is always foggy in the village and when a stranger comes to town, in the curvy form of student,Nan Barlow, who is researching witchcraft, she gets a closer insight into the subject than she might have liked.

A young-looking Christopher Lee has a supporting role in the film and manages to add a little extra darkness to the proceedings just by his very presence.

Alien: Resurrection/Aliens 4

Alien: Resurrection (1997) is a science fiction/thriller film written by Joss Whedon and directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. It opened on November 26, 1997. It is the fourth in the Alien series of films. Unlike the previous movies, it was not filmed in England. The original music score was composed by John Frizzell.

The events of Alien: Resurrection take place two centuries after the events of Alien³. Ellen Ripley has been cloned on the outer space military science vessel Auriga using "blood samples from Fiori 16, on ice," so that the United Systems Military can extract the alien queen embryo that she was impregnated with. After successful extraction of the queen embryo, the scientists decide to keep the Ripley clone alive for further study. They raise the alien queen to adult size and collect its eggs for further use. As a result of the cloning process, where Ripley's DNA was mixed with the alien's, she has developed several new abilities including enhanced strength and reflexes, acidic blood, and an empathic link with the aliens.

The Betty, a ship full of freelance mercenaries, arrives delivering several kidnapped humans in hypersleep. The military scientists use them as hosts for the alien facehuggers, raising several adult aliens for study. The mercenaries soon encounter Ripley, and their youngest member Call (Winona Ryder) recognizes her name. She attempts to kill Ripley, believing she may be used to create more aliens. Call is too late; the adult aliens have already been created and quickly escape their confinement, damaging the ship and killing most of its crew. Dr. Wren, one of the ship's scientists, reveals that the Auriga's default command in an emergency situation is to return to Earth. Realizing that this will unleash the aliens on Earth, Ripley, the mercenaries, Wren, a surviving marine named DiStephano, and a surviving alien host, Purvis, set out to escape on the Betty and then destroy the Auriga.

As the group makes their way through the damaged ship, several of them are killed by the aliens. Call is revealed to be an android after Wren betrays the group. Using her abilities to interface with the damaged ship's systems, they set it on a collision course with Earth, hoping that the remaining aliens will be destroyed in the crash. The alien queen has also gained an ability from Ripley's DNA: she can now give birth to live offspring directly without the need for eggs and human hosts. The resulting offspring, which appears more humanoid, recognizes Ripley as its "mother" and kills the alien queen. Ripley is a witness to the horrific birth but escapes soon after and heads for the Betty.

Ripley and the surviving mercenaries arrive at the Betty; and, as they launch, the human/alien hybrid attacks Ripley and Call. Ripley kills it by using her own acidic blood to burn a hole through a viewing pane, causing the creature to be drawn through the small hole and into the vacuum of space. The survivors escape in the Betty as the Auriga crashes through the atmosphere and down towards Earth.

As the inmates recover the pod's passengers, an alien facehugger is seen approaching their dog. Many of the ex-inmates have embraced an apocalyptic, millenarian religion which forbids sexual relations, and Ripley is warned that her presence among them may have extremely disturbing effects.

Alien, a 1979 science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott, has become culturally influential. The film's title refers to the main antagonist, a highly aggressive extraterrestrial life-form, which infects one of the crew members of the spacefaring towing vehicle Nostromo and threatens the crew after hatching from his body.

Alien became a critical and a box-office success, spawning a Hollywood media franchise of literature, video games, merchandise and three official sequels. The film launched actress Sigourney Weaver's career. By featuring a strong heroine the film itself also proved unconventional (by Hollywood standards) for the action genre. While the Alien (referred to in spin-offs as a xenomorph) proved a popular aspect of the film, the story of Ellen Ripley became the thematic thread that ran through the series. Together with the films of David Cronenberg from the 1970s Alien emerged as a central work in the development of the body-horror subgenre. The Number 23 is a suspense film starring Jim Carrey, Virginia Madsen, and Danny Huston, directed by Joel Schumacher. It was released on February 23, 2007 and was released on DVD on July 24, 2007 (July 23rd in the UK). The plot involves an obsession with the 23 Enigma, an esoteric belief that all incidents and events are directly connected to the number 23, some permutation of the number 23, or a number related to the number 23. Although the 23 Enigma is pervasive in the works of author Robert Anton Wilson, including the 1998 film 23, he is not acknowledged in the credits for this film, which is not a remake of 23. This film is the second one with Schumacher and Carrey, the first being Batman Forever. The Number 23 is director Joel Schumacher’s 23rd TV-film project. During the 23rd and zero zero seconds of the movie, a hologram of the number 23 appears then vanishes instantly.

Walter Sparrow (Jim Carrey) is an animal control officer married to cake shop owner, Agatha (Virginia Madsen); they have a son, Robin (Logan Lerman). The film opens with Walter narrating the events of his recent birthday. He begins by describing how, when it was almost five o'clock, he received a call to catch a dog. The dog had been cornered in the basement of a Chinese restaurant, and gave chase when Walter approached. Walter eventually cornered the dog, and noticed on its collar tag that its name was Ned.

Because of the run-in with the dog, Walter is late meeting his wife and while she is waiting, she enters a bookstore called "A Novel Fate". In the store, she leafs through a book called "The number 23" by a Topsy Kretts (we later learn that the author's name is pronounced "Top Secrets"). When Walter finally arrives, Agatha announces that she is going to buy the book for him, as it is his birthday. In a detail that is never fully resolved, she also mentions that she had come across the book earlier, presumably, that is, before that night.

The film features a cast of many non-professional actors, including Marilyn Burns, Gunnar Hansen, Edwin Neal and Paul A. Partain. The film, despite its label as excessively graphic, does not rely so much on explicit gore to generate terror in the audience as it does on pacing, suspense, the deserted location and dramatic tension.The film has developed a dedicated cult following.

The plot of the film revolves primarily around a group of friends on a road trip in rural Texas. The purpose of the road trip is to visit the hometown of Sally and Franklin's father in order to check on their grandfather's grave after reports of grave robbing. After their van runs low on gas, the group of friends visits the childhood home of Sally and Franklin's father where they are attacked by a family of cannibalistic men, including the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface.

The film was an independent production, produced on a budget of just $83,532 and went on to gross $36,000,000 at the US box office in 1974 — making it the most successful independent film ever until surpassed by Halloween in 1978.[1] While it is not the first of its specific genre, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre influenced subsequent films in the sub-genre. The film is the first of four Chainsaw films (completed or pending) directed by Hooper and Henkel. In 2003, it spawned a remake.

Doom

Doom is a 2005 science fiction horror film adaptation of the popular Doom series of video games created by Id Software. It was directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak and was released in the United States on October 21, 2005 and in the United Kingdom on December 2, 2005.

On February 7, 2006, Doom was released for the Unrated DVD version. The unrated DVD has a running time of 1 hour 53 minutes, which suggests that 15 minutes of footage were removed for the rated release.

A film based on the games had been widely expected since the first game's original release in 1993. In 1994 or 1995, Id Software sold Doom rights to two filming studios, reportedly Universal Pictures and Columbia Pictures, but the rights expired apparently due to a lack of timely production. For the next few years, the project, ironically lingered in development hell. In 2002, it was reported that Warner Brothers acquired live action film rights to Doom from Id Software. Sometime in 2003, Warner Brothers lost the rights, and they were subsequently given to Universal Pictures; Universal gotten Doom and moved into production in 2004.

In a interview with executive producer John Wells, he stated that a second film would be put into production if the first was a success at the box office. Ticket sales for the opening weekend totaled more than 15.3 million USD, but promptly dropped down to approximately $4.2 million, which mystified Universal executives.[citation needed]

The basic plot of Doom is quite similar to Aliens in that a small group of space marines go to investigate a deserted research facility on another planet, and do battle with vicious creatures until only a few are left who must fight to escape alive. The original game DOOM however was itself influenced by the movie Aliens, which is one of the reasons for the thematic similarity.

The film has been rated R in the United States by the MPAA for strong violence/gore and language.

Karen White (Dee Wallace-Stone) is a television news anchor who is being stalked by a serial murderer named Eddie Quist. In cooperation with the police, she takes part in a scheme to capture Eddie by agreeing to meet him in a sleazy porno theater. Eddie forces Karen to watch a video of a young woman being raped, and when Karen turns around to see Eddie she screams. The police enter and shoot Eddie, and although Karen is safe, she suffers amnesia. Her therapist, Dr. George Waggner (Patrick Macnee), decides to send her and her husband, Bill Neill (Christopher Stone), to "The colony", a secluded resort in the countryside where he sends patients for treatment.

The colony is filled with strange characters, and one, a nymphomaniac named Marsha Quist (Elisabeth Brooks), tries to seduce Bill. When he resists, he is attacked and bitten by a wolf-like creature while returning to his cabin. He later returns to find Marsha waiting and the two have sex by the campfire. During the encounter, both shapeshift into werewolves.
